 Recently celebrating its 25-year milestone, the School admitted its first class in 1982. Accepting only legal residents of Georgia into its Doctor of Medicine Program, the School is committed to meeting Georgia’s health care needs of medically-underserved areas. The initial class of 30 first-year medical students on the Savannah campus began study in the fall of 2008. The school also offers the Master of Public Health, Master of Family Therapy, and Master of Science in Anesthesia degrees. In August 2012, the School of Medicine will launch a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences, Master of Science in Preclinical Sciences and the Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Medical Psychology programs.  Mercer University School of Medicine’s American Medical College Application Services (AMCAS) Prep Course is designed to improve the application of disadvantaged students, to the Doctor of Medicine program, who are interested in applying to an Early Decision program within the state of Georgia. Faculty Notable Dr. Melissa A. Kling, director of the animal care facility, attended the annual North American Veterinary Conference in Orlando, Flordia, January 13-18, 2012. She was invited to moderate the exotic companion mammal session on January 14th in addition to participate in a reception held for veterinary medical students and veterinary technician students interested in pursuing a career involving exotic animals. |
