Master of Family Therapy - Admissions

We're excited you are considering the Mercer University School of Medicine Marriage and Family Therapy Program for your graduate education. Below please find information regarding our application process. Regular Application Deadline - June 1, 2012
Early Decision Deadline - January 15, 2012

 

  1. Official transcripts, sent directly from the college or university, for all college-level work completed to earn a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.

  2. Official transcripts, sent directly from the college or university, for any work completed beyond the undergraduate degree, i.e. masters and/or doctoral work.

  3. Three letters of reference, two of the three must be from either current or previous college professors and/or employers, the third may be either a college professor, employer or friend. A completed Reference Form is required with all reference letters.

  4. Master of Family Therapy and Post-Masters Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy applicants are asked to submit a three-page (750 words) typewritten essay on the subject of your educational, career, and life goals.

  5. All MFT applicants must have taken the Graduate Records Examination Test (GRE) within the past 5 years. Please forward an official copy of your General test scores to: Mercer University, School of Medicine, Admissions Office, using the institutional code 5409 and departmental code 4603.

G.P.A. Requirement:
An overall undergraduate grade point average of 2.50 or better based on a 4.0 system is required.

Graduate Transfer Students:
Because of the specialized nature of the MFT graduate program offered through MUSM, the amount of graduate course credit awarded by transfer will be evaluated by the Program Director on a case by case basis. The maximum number of transfer credits will be limited to six semester hours and restricted to courses in which a grade of "B" or better was achieved. Courses used to complete requirements for another masters or doctoral degree cannot be used to satisfy requirements for the Mercer University School of Medicine Master of Family Therapy Degree. Transfer work will be calculated as part of the six-year limitation for the completion of the graduate degree.
