Ph.D. in Clinical Medical Psychology – Mercer University School of Medicine
Accreditation
To attain licensure in most states, graduates must complete a program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association (APA) or its equivalent. Since new programs are not eligible to apply for APA accreditation until the first cohort of students has completed four years of course work, we anticipate submitting our application for accreditation in 2016. If our program receives accreditation before the Fall of 2017, the first cohort of students would graduate from an APA accredited program. While every effort is being taken to ensure we will meet the APA Commission on Accreditation standards, APA requires us to inform prospective students that we cannot guarantee the Clinical Medical Psychology program will be accredited.
Before enrolling students, our program also must apply for and receive accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges. Although SACS does not guarantee accreditation until our application has been fully approved, we anticipate receiving SACS accreditation in early 2012.
